Concrete Formwork

Concrete Foundation Wall Formwork:

After the foundations are excavated, and the footings are poured, the concrete goes vertical!

Basement walls are typically designed to be built in concrete to taking advantage of concrete's:

  1. Superior structural capacity to resist the pressure of the surrounding earth, and
  2. Ability to be waterproofed to create a barrier against groundwater.

Walls are built by placing formwork on either side of the internal reinforcing steel grid. The formwork are the flat panels that hold the wet concrete in place as it cures. Formwork is often seen constructed of plywood panels, but on this project the local concrete contractor Advanced Concrete is using reusable formwork panels made of structured steel sheets.
